You will cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, witness ethereal cedar forests, be fascinated by cheeky Barbary Apes, and experience unbridled views of the Ziz Valley and its massive gorge. You will even have the chance to ride the proverbial dromedary caravan and hike like a true desert nomad to Erg Chebbi with its sand dunes. An experience that should be lived at least once in a lifetime.
Pick up at the Hotel or Raid where you’re staying in Fes at 9:00 in the morning to start the route to the Merzouga Sahara Desert. We will begin the journey to the desert crossing the university city of Ifrane, better known as the “Moroccan Switzerland” and for being one of the favorite cities of the King of Morocco together with the landscapes of the Atlas until we reach the Ziz Valley, an extensive palm grove. We will continue towards the desert until we reach the impressive Dunes of Merzouga, where we will change our transport for a caravan of dromedaries that will take us to the Luxury camp in a one hour journey.
We will make a stop halfway to watch the sunset over the dunes and stretch our legs a bit before continuing to the camp. Once there, we will have a hospitality tea and we will have the opportunity to climb the great dune or the small dunes that are near the camp site. Enjoying the Berber drums music while dancing around the campfire, under the open sky of million stars. Dinner overnight stay in a luxury camp.
Wake up early in the morning to contemplate the beautiful sunrise in the middle of the desert. Then you will have free time for a warm Moroccan breakfast. After that you return on camels to Merzouga where the driver awaits. Then we continued to direction to Marrakech depends on the time we have we’ll take the opportunity to make as many stops as possible in order to see some interesting sites along the way such as Todra & Dades valley, Ouarzazate, the old kasbah of ait ben Haddou to take pictures or do a quick visit if you are traveling in summer months when the day is long enough.
